The maiden edition of the Ondo State Club Owners Association Preseason Tournament (OSCWAPT) began on an exciting note on Friday with three competitive fixtures that produced thrilling football and impressive performances at the Akure Sports Complex.
The preseason competition, organised by the Ondo State Club Owners Association, is aimed at preparing clubs for the forthcoming Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) 2026 season, which is expected to commence next month.
Akure North United Edge Wonderxchange FA
The opening match of the tournament saw Akure North United secure a narrow but deserved 1–0 victory over Wonderxchange FA.
The decisive moment came early in the game when Akure North United capitalised on a defensive lapse to score what eventually proved to be the winning goal. Despite sustained pressure from Wonderxchange FA in search of an equaliser, Akure North United held firm defensively to seal the victory and start their campaign on a positive note.
Agbana WFA Stage Comeback Victory
In the second fixture of the day, Agbana Wonderful Football Academy (Agbana WFA) produced a spirited comeback to defeat Florence Joshua FC 2–1.
Florence Joshua FC had initially taken the lead through a beautifully executed free kick, raising hopes of an opening-day triumph. However, Agbana WFA responded strongly, overturning the deficit with two well-worked goals to claim all three points in a dramatic encounter.
Akure United Overcome Emalex FC
The final game of the day also produced plenty of excitement as Akure United recorded a hard-fought 2–1 victory against Emalex FC.
Both teams displayed attacking intent throughout the match, but Akure United proved more clinical in front of goal, converting their chances to emerge victorious and join the list of opening-day winners.

The action continues today with four fixtures lined up as teams continue their preparations ahead of the upcoming Nigeria Nationwide League One season.
