As young Nigerian athletes from the Niger Delta region continue to showcase their talents at the ongoing Niger Delta Games (NDG) in Benin, Edo State, Engr. Musa Kida, President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), has praised the organisers of the Games.

Speaking to the media in Abuja, Kida, who is also the Chairman of NNPC, noted that the entrance of the NDG into Nigeria’s sporting landscape is a step in the right direction and will help in the development of sports, not only in the region but across the country.

“The Niger Delta Games is a worthwhile venture to nurture and develop sports in the region and, by extension, Nigeria. It is a welcome development, and I commend the organisers of this noble sporting event ongoing in Benin, Edo State,” Kida said.

“I watched highlights of the opening ceremony and it was very colourful. The Games present another opportunity to project the region in a positive light through the platform of sports.

“The youths of the region are also being given the opportunity to engage in meaningful activities and, at the end of the day, it is a win-win situation for the development of talents in Nigeria,” he added.

The Niger Delta Games will conclude this Friday.
