The President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Engr. (Dr.) Ahmadu Musa Kida, has joined millions of Muslim faithful across the world in welcoming the holy month of Ramadan, describing it as a period that embodies peace, unity, love, and compassion.
Ramadan, a sacred month in the Islamic calendar, is observed as a time of fasting, spiritual reflection, and abstinence from acts contrary to the teachings of Islam.
In his goodwill message, Kida urged Muslims to embrace piety, sober reflection, and selflessness throughout the fasting period. He noted that Ramadan offers a unique opportunity for spiritual renewal and personal rebirth, which can positively impact the nation’s collective progress.
“This is a very important month in the lives of Muslim faithfuls. It is yet another gracious opportunity for people to demonstrate love, kindness, and true peace and unity in accordance with the teachings of Islam,” Kida stated.
Kida, who also serves as Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), admonished well-placed Nigerians to extend compassion and support to the less privileged during the holy month. According to him, such acts align with the inclusive Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He further encouraged Nigerians to use the period to pray for peace, unity, and sustained socio-economic growth and development of the country.
