‎Eighteen grassroots football coaches from Benue State have successfully graduated from the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Abuja, after completing the Basic Coaching Course, marking another significant milestone in the development of football at the grassroots level in the state.

‎The coaches, who completed the intensive programme today, were fully sponsored by the Chairman of the Benue State Football Association (BSFA), Chief Dr. Barr. Paul Ankwa Edeh, FCPA. The initiative underscores the BSFA Chairman’s unwavering commitment to capacity building, technical development, and the long-term growth of football in Benue State.

‎The Basic Coaching Course at the National Institute for Sports equips participants with modern coaching principles, player development techniques, sports science fundamentals, and ethical standards required to nurture young talents effectively. With this new qualification, the graduating coaches are expected to return to their various communities better prepared to identify, train, and mentor young footballers across the state.

‎Speaking on behalf of the contingent, the leader, Coach Shadrack Aondongu Ugah, expressed deep gratitude to the BSFA Chairman for the rare opportunity.

‎“We are sincerely grateful to the Chairman of the Benue State Football Association, Chief Dr. Barr. Paul Ankwa Edeh, FCPA, for sponsoring all 18 of us for this important course. This training has broadened our knowledge and improved our coaching capacity. We assure him and the BSFA that we will put everything we have learned into practice to develop grassroots football and discover talents that will make Benue State proud,” Coach Ugah said.

‎The graduation of the 18 coaches adds to the growing pool of certified coaches in Benue State and aligns with the BSFA’s vision of strengthening football structures from the grassroots. Stakeholders believe that sustained investment in coach education, as demonstrated by Chief Dr. Edeh, will translate into better-organized leagues, improved player development, and greater representation of Benue talents at national and international levels.

‎The BSFA continues to reaffirm its commitment to human capacity development as a key pillar in building a strong and sustainable football ecosystem in Benue State.
