‎The inaugural edition of the Queens Cup, a Southwest Preseason Tourney has been scheduled to take place in Ibadan from Monday 3rd November to Sunday 9th of November 2025.

‎The elite preseason competition is powered by Assamokee International will host ten Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) clubs which will see six Premiership teams and four coming from the Championship.

‎Powered by Assamokee International, supported by the Oyo State Government, and officially endorsed by the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), the competition is more than a warm-up for the 2025/26 season. It is a declaration of a prestigious tourney for the development of women’s football in Nigeria.

‎Founder of Assamokee International, Dr. AbdulRahmon Abolore emphasized the tournament’s core objective which is to elevate the standard of the game through strategic competition and detailed feedback.

‎Addressing the rigorous schedule which pits top teams against each other in a condensed eight-day period, Abolore defended the intensity, calling it a necessary step toward achieving peak readiness before the official league season begins.

‎”The Queens Cup is not just a tournament, it’s a launchpad. Every match at Lekan Salami Stadium will give clubs high-level competition, full match analysis and the opportunity to nurture players to their best abilities ahead of the new season.

‎”Preseason isn’t about results, it’s about readiness. Our teams will face different styles possession, counter-attack, high press in just eight days. That intensity sharpens tactics, builds fitness, and exposes weaknesses before the NWFL Premiership kicks off. We’re giving coaches the perfect stress test.”

‎”We’ve seen raw talent in open trials like Pacesetter Queens new signings and hidden gems in other clubs. The Queens Cup will put them on camera.”

‎Reflecting on the symbolic significance of the tournament’s location. Abolore said hosting the event at Lekan Salami Stadium, one of Nigeria’s premier football venues, was a deliberate move to challenge the perception of where the women’s game belongs.

‎”Ibadan is the new heartbeat of women’s football. Hosting the Queens Cup here sends a message, women’s game belongs in our biggest stadiums, not the back fields. With Oyo State Government support and NWFL endorsement, we’re planting a flag. Next year, we go bigger.”
