In a strong reaffirmation of Osun State’s commitment to sports excellence and youth development, the Deputy Governor of the State, Prince Kola Adewusi, has restated the government’s unwavering resolve to make sports a driving force for unity, discipline, and social advancement.
Prince Adewusi, who also doubles as the Commissioner for Sports, gave this assurance during the official endorsement of the Osun Military and Paramilitary Games 2025 (OMPG 2025), a groundbreaking initiative designed to strengthen collaboration and fitness among security agencies across the state and beyond.
Speaking at the Government Secretariat, Abere, the Deputy Governor commended the vision behind the Games, describing it as a timely and purposeful effort that complements the developmental agenda of the Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke-led administration.
According to him, the government views sports not merely as a recreational activity but as a vital instrument for community building, discipline, and peace promotion.
“The Osun State Government is fully committed to supporting every initiative that advances the growth of sports and fosters unity among our people. The Osun Military and Paramilitary Games 2025 is an inspiring concept that will further strengthen cooperation, discipline, and healthy competition among our security agencies,”
Prince Adewusi stated.
He added that the government would continue to create enabling environments for sporting activities to thrive, noting that Osun State has a rich history of producing outstanding athletes and remains focused on sustaining that legacy through consistent investment, partnerships, and grassroots programs.
The Osun Military and Paramilitary Games 2025 (OMPG 2025), powered by Ace Sports in collaboration with the Osun Sports Officers Association and the Osun State Ministry of Sports, is set to become one of the most unifying sports events in the state’s history. The Games will feature personnel from key security formations, including the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, Fire Service, and Immigration Service, among others.
The competition aims to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and inter-agency camaraderie while also highlighting the crucial role of sports in fostering national integration and discipline.
Representatives of the organizing team, led by the Chief Operating Officer of Ace Sports, Mr. Olayinka Olawole, expressed appreciation to the Deputy Governor and the state government for their support and encouragement.
Mr. Olawole, speaking on behalf of the organizers, emphasized that OMPG 2025 will not only showcase the athletic strength of participating agencies but also project Osun State as a peaceful and sports-friendly environment capable of hosting large-scale sporting events.
“This is more than a competition; it’s a celebration of unity, strength, and service. We are committed to delivering a well-organized, impactful event that will leave a lasting impression on both participants and spectators,”
he affirmed.
Also present at the event were the Chairman of the Osun State Sports Officers Association, Mr. Olufemi Bankefa, and the Vice Chairman, Mr. Ismail Adekunle, who both echoed the importance of continuous collaboration between government and private stakeholders to sustain sports development in the state.
Mr. Bankefa, in his remarks, hailed the endorsement as a bold step toward institutional synergy and social progress through sports.
“The Osun Military and Paramilitary Games 2025 represents a new chapter in our collective effort to deepen sports development in the state. It’s a model of what collaboration between government, sports officers, and private partners can achieve when we all share a common vision,”
Mr. Bankefa said.
He further emphasized the broader impact of the Games beyond the competition itself.
“Beyond the medals and competitions, the OMPG 2025 is about unity, discipline, and mutual respect among our security agencies. It’s about showing that sports can be a bridge that connects service, fitness, and community,”
he added.
Mr. Bankefa also applauded the Deputy Governor’s proactive leadership and reaffirmed the association’s readiness to support the Games to ensure lasting impact.
“We deeply appreciate the Deputy Governor’s continued support and the commitment of the Ministry of Sports. His leadership gives us the confidence to believe that the Osun Military and Paramilitary Games will become a flagship event for excellence and teamwork,”
he concluded.
The preparations for OMPG 2025 are already in top gear, as the organizers move toward unveiling the event’s full calendar and venues.
As Osun State positions itself once again as a hub for sports innovation and excellence, the Osun Military and Paramilitary Games 2025 stands as a testament to what visionary leadership, collaboration, and passion for youth development can achieve.
