Nasarawa United striker Anas Yusuf has expressed his delight after scoring in his team’s hard-fought 2–1 victory over Enugu Rangers on Sunday, a result that extended the Solid Miners’ unbeaten streak to five games in the ongoing 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The reigning NPFL Top Scorer, who has become a fan favourite in Lafia, was once again pivotal as Nasarawa United came from behind to maintain their dominance at the summit of the league table.
Rangers took the lead through Wisdom Ebirim in the 19th minute, but Anas Yusuf levelled the score 13 minutes later with a calmly-taken penalty, awarded after a handball in the box.
The goal — his second of the season — reignited the home side’s momentum before John Joshua completed the turnaround in the 61st minute with a composed finish from Yusuf’s teasing cross.
Speaking after the match, a visibly elated Yusuf said the goal meant a lot to him and to the team’s continued push for the NPFL title.
“I feel happy to score my second goal for my club this season,” he said. “I hope to keep scoring, and I also pray that my team will continue to win more games so we can win the league this season.”
The forward also praised the unity within the squad and the belief instilled by head coach Mangut Mbwas, whose leadership has seen the team collect 19 points from eight matches, four clear of second-placed Abia Warriors.
Yusuf, who has consistently led the team’s attacking line with confidence and composure, credited the team’s success to their collective hard work and determination on and off the pitch.
“Everyone in the squad is working hard. We are united, and we believe in ourselves. The coach motivates us every day to give our best, and that spirit is showing in our performances,” he added.
With Nasarawa United set to travel to Lagos for their next fixture against Ikorodu City FC on Sunday, October 19, Yusuf assured fans that the team would remain focused and determined to extend their winning form.
“We know every game is tough, especially away from home, but our confidence is high,” he said. “We’ll keep pushing, stay humble, and keep fighting for the badge.”
The victory keeps Nasarawa United at the top of the NPFL standings, cementing their status as one of the early-season favourites for the 2025/26 title.
