‎The Black Stars of Ghana have officially secured their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following a hard-fought victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

‎Ghana’s qualification makes them the fifth African nation to book a spot at next year’s global showpiece, joining Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, and Algeria among the early representatives from the continent.

‎In a tense encounter in Accra, Mohammed Kudus proved to be the hero once again, scoring the decisive goal in the second half to hand the four-time African champions a narrow but vital win.

‎With this triumph, Ghana become the 21st nation overall and the 18th non-host country to confirm qualification for the expanded 48-team tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

‎The 2026 World Cup marks Ghana’s fifth appearance at the tournament, having previously featured in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022. The Black Stars famously reached the quarterfinals in 2010 in South Africa — Africa’s best-ever performance alongside Cameroon (1990), Senegal (2002), and Morocco (2022).

‎Since making their debut in Germany 2006, Ghana have missed only one edition — the 2018 World Cup in Russia — cementing their reputation as one of Africa’s most consistent and competitive national teams.

‎With qualification secured, the Black Stars will now shift their focus to the group stage draw on December 5, where they will learn their opponents for next year’s global football festival.

‎As excitement builds, fans across Ghana will hope this new generation, led by stars like Kudus, can once again make a lasting impression on the world stage.
