Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have arrived safely in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The team, led by head coach Bankole Olowookere, touched down at 11:28 a.m. local time on Wednesday after a smooth four-hour, twenty-minute flight from Abuja.
On arrival, the players and officials were warmly received by members of the Nigerian community in Morocco before checking into their base — the prestigious Ibis Hotel in Casablanca.
The Flamingos are scheduled to hold a light training session later in the evening to shake off travel fatigue and begin early preparations for the global showpiece.
As part of their build-up, Nigeria will play two international friendly matches — first against New Zealand on Friday, and later against Paraguay next Tuesday.
The Flamingos have been drawn in Group C, where they will face France, Canada, and Samoa in what promises to be a thrilling group stage.
Coach Olowookere expressed optimism about his team’s readiness, noting that the players are focused and determined to make the nation proud at the tournament.
