Egypt have officially booked their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a commanding 3–0 victory over Djibouti in Casablanca on Wednesday night.
Star forward Mohamed Salah once again proved decisive, scoring twice to guide the Pharaohs to an unassailable lead at the top of CAF Group A, with one round of qualifiers still remaining. Ibrahim Adel added a third to complete the triumph and seal Egypt’s passage to North America.
The result means Egypt become the third African nation to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, joining Morocco and Tunisia among the early entrants from the continent.
Salah opened the scoring midway through the first half, showing his trademark composure inside the box. He later doubled Egypt’s advantage with a delightful chipped finish in the second period before Adel’s late goal confirmed a dominant display from Rui Vitória’s side.
The Pharaohs’ qualification extends their proud World Cup pedigree, marking their fifth appearance on football’s biggest stage. It also highlights the remarkable consistency of Salah, whose brace took him to 20 goals in World Cup qualifying, making him Africa’s all-time top scorer in the competition’s history.
Egypt will now look ahead to the 2026 tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, where they hope to build on their growing continental and global reputation.
