Nasarawa United head coach, Mangut Mbwas, has expressed delight following his team’s hard-fought 1–0 victory over Bendel Insurance in a thrilling Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
Mbwas described the result as “a thing of joy,” commending his players for their resilience and determination against a tough opponent.
“It’s a thing of joy to get the maximum points, either home or away,” he said. “After drawing their last home game, Bendel Insurance came out aggressively searching for the win, but we kept resisting and pushing until the last minutes of extra time — and we got the goal.”
The coach praised his squad’s tactical discipline and credited their second-half improvement as key to the victory.
“We started slowly, but as the game progressed, we adjusted. The changes we made in the second half made a lot of difference,” Mbwas noted.
He also highlighted the motivation and support the team continues to receive from various quarters in Nasarawa State.
“We are highly motivated from all sides from our sports-loving Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, to the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Kwanta Yakubu, our Club Chairman, Solomon Babanjah, the supporters, and the local Football Association. Their encouragement keeps us going,” he said.
Looking ahead, Mbwas stressed that his side would maintain focus and respect every opponent as they continue their title push.
“We approach every game with the respect it deserves. Our aim is to maintain this momentum going forward,” he added.
The Solid Miners will next face Rangers International FC of Enugu at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday, October 12, 2025, as they seek to extend their lead at the top of the NPFL table.
