‎Plateau United climbed out of the relegation zone with a narrow 1-0 win over El-Kanemi Warriors in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 6 clash at the New Jos Stadium on Saturday.

‎Monday Gideon was the hero for the Peace Boys, striking the decisive goal in the 32nd minute to hand his side their second victory of the season. The result lifted Plateau United to 13th on the log with six points from five matches, easing early-season pressure on the team.

‎El-Kanemi Warriors, despite the defeat, remain in sixth place as they continue to impress in their return to the top flight.

‎Meanwhile, in Benin City, Bayelsa United ended their two-game losing streak with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Bendel Insurance at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

‎Insurance took the lead right on the stroke of half-time when Kayode Oke converted from the penalty spot. However, Bayelsa United showed resilience after the restart, and Jawad Mustapha netted the equalizer five minutes into the second half to ensure the Restoration Boys left with a valuable point.

‎Bayelsa United had previously suffered consecutive defeats against Enyimba and Nasarawa United, but Saturday’s draw offered some respite and a confidence boost heading into their next fixtures.

‎Action in Matchday 6 continues on Sunday, with four more fixtures lined up across different venues.
