‎The draw for the Carabao Cup round of 16 has produced several mouthwatering fixtures, with Premier League giants and historic rivals set to clash later this month.

‎Holders Newcastle United will face a stern test as they host Tottenham Hotspur in an all-Premier League showdown, while Wolverhampton Wanderers will welcome Chelsea to Molineux in another top-flight battle.

‎Arsenal, who last lifted the trophy in 1993, have been paired against Brighton & Hove Albion as Mikel Arteta’s side aim to end their 32-year wait for Carabao Cup glory. Meanwhile, Premier League champions Liverpool take on FA Cup winners Crystal Palace in what promises to be a heavyweight contest at Anfield.

‎One of the standout stories of this season’s competition is the presence of all three Welsh clubs in the last 16 for the first time.

‎The draw has delivered a historic all-Welsh clash between Wrexham and Cardiff City — their first meeting since 2002. Elsewhere, 2013 winners Swansea City face the daunting task of hosting Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

‎Grimsby Town, one of the lower-league representatives left in the competition, will test their resolve against Brentford, while Wycombe Wanderers entertain Fulham in another David-versus-Goliath encounter.

‎The round of 16 ties will take place during the week commencing 27 October.
