Rising Nigerian forward Goodness Osigwe has completed a permanent move to Swedish top-flight club Djurgården IF, sealing a big step in her blossoming career.
The highly rated striker arrives from Edo Queens, one of Nigeria’s leading women’s football teams, where she played a pivotal role in their historic NWFL Premiership title triumph in 2024.
Djurgården’s sports director, Jean Balawo, revealed that Osigwe first caught his eye during the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
“I first saw Goodness during the U-20 World Cup, where she registered a crucial assist in the match against Japan – a game that ended 2-1 to Japan,” Balawo told the club’s official website.
“She has pace, confidence, and the flair to take on opponents one-on-one. We are delighted to welcome her to Djurgården.”
Speaking after her unveiling, the Falconets striker expressed her excitement about the move and what she hopes to achieve in Sweden.
“I am quick and like to take on opponents with my dribbling. I’ve managed to score goals as well, and I play with confidence, which is important for me on the pitch,” Osigwe said.
“It’s truly a privilege to join the capital’s club, and I look forward to giving my best.”
For Osigwe, this transfer represents both a challenge and an opportunity:
A chance to prove herself in Europe against top-level competition.
A platform to develop her skills further and gain visibility on the international stage.
A move that could bring her closer to a regular Super Falcons call-up, given her progress through Nigeria’s youth national teams.
Her combination of pace, dribbling, and confidence makes her an exciting prospect to watch as she begins her Scandinavian journey.
