Nigeria’s U20 boys, the Flying Eagles, will square up against Australia’s U20 team in a friendly clash on Tuesday, as both sides intensify preparations for the 24th FIFA U20 World Cup finals set to kick off in Chile this weekend.
The international warm-up match will hold at the Complejo Deportivo Ruca Mapu in Santiago, with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 pm Chile time (1:00 pm Nigeria time).
The fixture comes just days after the Flying Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by hosts Chile in a friendly encounter in Rancagua. In that match, Ahmed Akinyele gave Nigeria the lead in the 18th minute before Felipe Faúndez equalized for the Chileans midway through the first half.
Both Nigeria and Australia are keen on using this tie to fine-tune strategies, assess player readiness, and build momentum before their opening World Cup fixtures.
Group Stage Pairings:
Australia (Group D): Italy, Cuba, Argentina
Nigeria (Group F): Norway, Saudi Arabia, Colombia
With the World Cup curtain-raiser only days away, Tuesday’s friendly promises to offer both teams a valuable test against quality opposition in similar age brackets.
