Nigeria’s U20 women’s national team, the Falconets, are back on home soil after a hard-fought 1-0 away victory over Rwanda’s She-Amavubi in their 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign.
The team touched down in Nigeria on Monday morning from Kigali, buoyed by the crucial first-leg win secured on Sunday at the Kigali-Pelé Stadium.
The decisive moment came in the 70th minute when Alaba Olabiyi fired home the only goal of the encounter, handing Nigeria both the victory and a vital advantage heading into the return leg.
With the second leg scheduled for Saturday at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, the Falconets have immediately shifted focus to preparations in the Oyo State capital.
Coaches and officials have confirmed that the players are in high spirits, eager to deliver a strong performance in front of home fans.
Victory in Ibadan would guarantee passage to the third round of the qualification series, as the team continues its quest to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
