AS Roma have secured qualification for the 2025/2026 UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage, thanks to the contributions of Super Falcons duo Rinsola Babajide and Shukurat Oladipo.
The Italian side overturned a first-leg deficit to edge Sporting Lisbon 3-2 on aggregate. Roma had fallen 2-1 at home last week, but they produced a determined display in Portugal on Thursday, defeating Sporting 2-0 to seal progression.
Babajide was named in the starting lineup and played an important role before being substituted in the second half, while Oladipo, though unused, was part of the matchday squad that celebrated the historic qualification.
With this success, both Nigerian internationals join a growing list of Super Falcons stars set to feature in the Champions League this season. Paris Saint-Germain’s Jennifer Echegini and Rasheedat Ajibade, as well as Benfica midfielder Christy Ucheibe, will also grace Europe’s premier women’s club competition.
The qualification marks another milestone for Nigerian women’s footballers making an impact on the continental stage.
