‎Nasarawa United head coach, Mbwas Mangut, has expressed his satisfaction after his side battled to a 1-1 draw against Enyimba in their 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday Three fixture on Sunday in Aba.

‎The Solid Miners showed grit and composure to claim a valuable away point against the People’s Elephant, one of Nigeria’s most successful football clubs.

‎Mangut: We Expected the Pressure to Be on Enyimba

‎Speaking after the encounter, Mangut revealed that the result came as no surprise to him, noting that his players executed the game plan effectively.

‎“Before we came here, I told my players to stay relaxed,” the former Plateau United boss explained. “I reminded them that Enyimba would be under more pressure than us because they were at home and needed maximum points. Our plan worked, and in the end, we shared the spoils.”

‎Mangut, who previously worked as Rangers International’s assistant coach under Abdul Maikaba, described the clash as a contest of equals.

‎“It was a game where both sides gave a good account of themselves. Both teams created scoring chances. We were fortunate to contain a very strong Enyimba side, but we also had our moments and could not convert. Still, this result is massive for us. Every point is valuable, especially against a team like Enyimba, who have twice been crowned CAF Champions League winners,” he said.

‎Eyes on Wikki Tourists

‎Looking ahead, the Nasarawa United coach praised his team’s gradual progress and stressed the importance of building momentum.

‎“We keep improving in each game, and I’m very happy about that,” Mangut added. “Now we return home and focus on consolidating this performance when we face Wikki Tourists FC in our next fixture.”

‎The result in Aba leaves Nasarawa United with growing confidence as they aim to establish themselves as one of the most resilient sides in this NPFL campaign.
