Austrian Bundesliga outfit Wolfsberger AC have completed the signing of promising Nigerian midfielder Tochukwu Michael, strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
The 21-year-old joins the Lavanttal-based club from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Remo Stars, where he played a pivotal role in their title-winning campaign. Michael has signed a three-year deal with head coach Dietmar Kühbauer’s side, underlining the club’s faith in his potential.
Known for his composure, ball-winning ability, and distribution, the defensive midfielder made 34 appearances for Remo Stars last season, contributing two goals and four assists. His performances earned him a call-up to the home-based Super Eagles squad for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Michael’s move also means he will reunite with fellow Nigerian Chibuike Nwaiwu, who is already on the books of Wolfsberger AC. The signing is seen as a boost to the club’s midfield depth as they look to compete strongly in the Austrian topflight.
For Michael, the transfer marks a significant step in his career, providing him the opportunity to test himself in European football and continue his development on a bigger stage.
