Katsina United Football Club Chairman, Surajo Malumfashi, has issued a passionate call to action for sports-loving fans across Katsina State and beyond to troop out in large numbers and cheer the club to victory as they prepare to host long-time rivals Kano Pillars at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
The highly anticipated clash, billed as the Northwest Derby, is one of the most followed fixtures in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), attracting passionate supporters from both Katsina and Kano.
In his rallying message, Malumfashi charged the Katsina United players and technical crew to approach the game with passion, discipline, and determination, stressing that victory in such a derby goes beyond points—it is about pride, identity, and regional bragging rights.
“This is more than just a football match. It is a battle of pride between two football giants in the Northwest. I urge our players to give their very best and play with the commitment the fans deserve,” Malumfashi declared.
The chairman equally appealed to the club’s supporters to show exemplary discipline and conduct themselves responsibly throughout the encounter. He emphasized that the existing cordial relationship between Katsina United and Kano Pillars must be sustained, both on and off the pitch, regardless of the outcome of the match.
Malumfashi further urged the people of Katsina to keep the team in their prayers, asking for divine intervention for a hitch-free match, safety for all stakeholders, and a resounding victory for the home side.
He reserved special appreciation for His Excellency, Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda, PhD, whose unwavering commitment to sports development has continued to boost Katsina United’s fortunes. He also acknowledged the contributions of the State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Aliyu Lawal Shargalle, whose consistent concern and involvement have played a pivotal role in the progress of the team.
With Katsina United enjoying a strong wave of support from both government and fans, Malumfashi expressed confidence that the team will rise to the occasion and give the people of Katsina reasons to celebrate when the final whistle is blown.
