Victor Boniface has resumed training with Bundesliga club, Werder Bremen.
The 24-year-old striker joined Bremen on a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen on deadline day and was in high spirits as he trained with his new teammates for the first time.
Boniface’s debut for Bremen will have to wait until the end of the international break.
Despite being named in Nigeria’s 31-man provisional squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa, he was not invited to join the team.
After completing his move, Boniface expressed his excitement to play for Werder Bremen, thanking his friend Senne Lynen, a Union-Saint Gilloise teammate who currently plays for Werder Bremen, for making his onboarding process seamless.
Boniface stated that he wants to contribute to the team’s success and win games, rather than setting personal goals.
The transfer window for Boniface was turbulent, with potential moves to AC Milan and Al Nassr falling through. He eventually sealed a loan move to Werder Bremen, with the contract running until June 2026.
Bremen will cover part of his salary, and the club’s head of football expressed delight at securing Boniface’s services.
