Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is poised to join Turkish Super Lig champions Besiktas after agreeing to a three-year contract with the club.
Besiktas and Leicester City have reached an agreement for Ndidi’s transfer, with the Turkish side set to pay €9.5 million for the player.
Ndidi will undergo a routine medical examination in Istanbul on Thursday as part of the transfer process.
After clearing the medical, he will sign a three-year contract with Besiktas, with an option for a fourth year.
The 28-year-old midfielder has given his approval for the move, opting to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s project in Turkey over other European clubs.
Spanish club Valencia made a late bid to hijack Besiktas’ deal for Ndidi, but Leicester City rejected their offer, sticking to the existing agreement with Besiktas.
This move marks a new chapter for Ndidi, who has spent seven years at Leicester City, making over 300 appearances for the club.
Ndidi will join other Nigerian players currently plying their trade in Turkey, including:
Paul Onuachu of Trabzonspor,Genclerbirligi’s Henry Onyekuru and Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray
