The match, held at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, saw D’Tigress overcome a 28-24 halftime deficit with a strong second-half performance.
Despite struggling from three-point range, shooting just 13.04% compared to Mozambique’s 20%, D’Tigress showcased their trademark resilience, launching a decisive 12-0 run in the third quarter that shifted the game’s momentum.
Musa led the scoring with 19 points, while also grabbing 12 rebounds, making three assists, and snatching five steals, recording a double-double.
The 2019 MVP, Ezinne Kalu, was instrumental in the win, scoring 16 points and making five steals, helping Nigeria avoid a potential upset.
With this win, D’Tigress topped Group D and booked an automatic ticket to the last eight, extending their unbeaten run in the tournament to 26 games. The team had previously dominated Rwanda 92-45 in their opening game.
D’Tigress are now gearing up for the quarterfinals, aiming to claim their fifth consecutive AfroBasket title and seventh overall. They currently sit second in the rankings, behind Senegal, who have 11 titles.
