Bayelsa Queens Prepare For WAFU Zone-B Qualifiers With 2-1 Win Over Robo Queens

‎Bayelsa Queens FC secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over FC Robo Queens in a friendly match at the Maracana Stadium in Ajegunle, Lagos State, on Thursday.

‎The win was a crucial part of the Prosperity Girls’ preparations for the upcoming 2025 WAFU Zone-B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.

‎Chiamaka Ezekwugo and Mary Aderemi scored the goals for Bayelsa Queens, while Opeyemi Ajakaye scored for FC Robo Queens.

‎The match started brightly, with Bayelsa Queens taking the lead in the 17th minute through Ezekwugo’s header from a corner kick. FC Robo Queens equalized in the 58th minute, but Bayelsa Queens regained the lead in the 67th minute through Aderemi’s finish.

‎Technical Adviser Bayelsa Queens, Whyte Ogbonda, was impressed with his team’s performance, saying, “Generally, the team has done well. We’ve played six matches, won five, and drew one, and this is good preparation for Bayelsa Queens.” He added that the team would make some corrections before the WAFU Zone B competition.

‎Chairman Bayelsa Queens FC, Pastor Robin Angonimi Apreala, praised the players for their performance, saying,

‎”From my own assessment, they have done well, though the coaches still need to work on some gray areas noticed during this playing tour.” He also thanked the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, and other stakeholders for their support.
