The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has released the list of match officials for the 2025 U20 World Cup in Chile, and disappointingly, no Nigerian referee or assistant referee made the cut.
The tournament, scheduled to take place from September 27 to October 19, will feature 32 teams, including Nigeria’s Flying Eagles.
Despite Nigeria’s participation in the tournament, the country will not have any representatives among the match officials.
Africa will be represented by three center referees and six assistant referees. Morocco tops the continent with three officials, while Algeria, Ethiopia, Togo, Namibia, Comoros, Tunisia, and Egypt each have one representative.
The selected match officials from Africa include:
- Referees:
– Artan Omar Abdulkadir(SOM)
– Gamouh Youcef(ALG)
– Jayed Jalal(MAR)
- Assistant Referees:
– Ayimavo Eric(BEN)
– Montenegro Abelmiro(STP)
– Hassani Khalil(TUN)
– Cheruiyot Gilbert(KEN)
– Azgaou Lahsen(MAR)
