Nigeria U-20 international forward Kparobo Arierhi has joined Norwegian second division club Mjøndalen on loan from Lillestrøm, a Norwegian top-flight club.
The 18-year-old striker, who is a member of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles squad, will spend the remainder of the 2025 Norwegian season with Mjøndalen to gain more consistent first-team action and continue his development.
Arierhi has only managed two substitute appearances for Lillestrøm since his arrival at the club, prompting the decision to loan him to Mjøndalen.
The loan move is expected to benefit the young Nigerian striker’s career, particularly in view of the upcoming U20 World Cup.
Lillestrøm’s Sporting Director, Simon Mesfin, stated that the decision to loan Arierhi was a strategic one for both clubs and the player.
”We have decided that it is right to loan ‘KP’ to Mjøndalen. This is something we have considered for a while,” Mesfin said. He added that the loan would provide Arierhi with more playing time at the highest possible level, which is important for his further development.
Mesfin emphasized the importance of the loan for Arierhi’s potential participation in the U20 World Cup, scheduled for September/October this year. “It is also worth noting that this is important for his potential participation in the U20 World Cup,” he said.
Arierhi recently moved to Norway from Nigeria’s reputable Beyond Limits Academy and signed a four-year professional contract with Lillestrøm.
He was part of the Flying Eagles squad that participated in the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, scoring one goal in six appearances for Nigeria.
