Warri Wolves were crowned champions of the 2024/25 Nigeria National League (NNL) season after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Wikki Tourists in the final of the Super 8 playoffs at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Saturday.
The Seasiders dominated the opening exchanges, scoring three goals in the first 25 minutes.
Yusuf Abdullateef opened the scoring for Warri Wolves in the 7th minute, followed by Igbunu Evwierhurhoma’s second goal nine minutes later, set up by Abdullateef.
Joshua Shemaye scored the third goal five minutes before the half-hour mark, giving Warri Wolves a comfortable lead.
Wikki Tourists mounted a spirited fightback, with Mamuda Aliyu reducing the deficit in the 35th minute.
Wonderson Yakubu netted the Bauchi Elephants’ second goal in the 59th minute, but Warri Wolves held on to claim the title.
Warri Wolves’ victory marks a significant achievement for the team, solidifying their position as one of the top teams in the NNL.
