The Super Falcons are set to kick off their campaign for a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title on July 5 in Morocco. Former Nigeria international Stella Mbachu has expressed confidence that the team will emerge victorious, winning all their games and bringing home the trophy.
The Super Falcons last won the continental title in 2018 in Ghana, where they defeated South Africa on penalty shootout in the final.
In the 2022 tournament, also held in Morocco, the team finished in fourth place. To achieve their target, the Super Falcons must navigate Group B, which includes Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana.
Mbachu, a former WAFCON winner, believes the team has what it takes to succeed.
“The Super Falcons will win every game at the WAFCON,” she said on Brila FM. “They will not lose any game all in the tournament, you will see. They will come home with the trophy.”
The Super Falcons have been in good form ahead of the tournament, wrapping up their preparation with a 3-1 win against Ghana’s Black Queens in a behind-closed-doors friendly match in Morocco.
Chiwendu Ihezuo, Asisat Oshoala, and Rasheedat Ajibade scored for the team, which had previously drawn 0-0 with Portugal in another friendly encounter.
