Tunisia’s head coach, Kamel Saada, is confident that his team, Les Aigles de Carthage, can pull off a surprise against the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The two teams will face off in their opening fixture of the competition in Casablanca on Sunday, July 6.
The Super Falcons are the most successful side in the history of the competition with nine titles, making them the overwhelming favorites to top Group B.
However, Saada is aware of the quality of opposition in their group and believes that Tunisia can make a positive impact. Botswana and Algeria are the other teams in Group B.
“We’ll need to be disciplined, focused, and play our best football,” Saada told CAF’s official website. “The team that plays smart, cohesive football can pull off surprises. We’re preparing for that seriously.”
The 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted by Morocco from July 5 to July 26, 2024.
Twelve countries will participate in the competition, with Banyana Banyana of South Africa being the current holders of the tournament
