United Supporters’ Club Not Hijacked, Unification On Track – Sunday Gullong

Sunday Gullong, Secretary of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the United Supporters’ Club, has denied allegations that the club has been hijacked by individuals.
In an interview with Sportsgister Nigeria, Gullong clarified that the IMC is working to unify the six recognized supporters’ clubs under one umbrella.
He said,”Interim management committee of United Supporters’ club saddles with the responsibility of unifying that six supporters clubs has set up reconciliation and constitution drafting committees
“As raised in some quarters that United supporters club has been hijacked,let me clarify at the junction that with the caliber of people in the reconciliation,it cannot be hijacked.
“We have commenced process of registering the unified Supporters club as a group as agreed by the six of us.
He commended leadership of National sports commission and Nigeria football federation for their roles in the unification
“I want to specially appreciate NSC chairman Alhaji Shehu Dikko and NFF president Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau for deeming fit to unify us
“You can recall vividly that we have been in this struggle of unifying supporters’ clubs over nine years,we had two sports ministers who couldn’t reconcile us.
“Within a year of National sports commission,they have able to synergize with NFF and unified us.
“NSC sponsored us to cheer Super Eagles to victory Rwanda in Kigali as one family
When asked if Interim management committee of United Supporters’ club has deviated from MOU signed by the six recognized supporters’ clubs, Honourable Sunday Gullong said naysayers are trying to distract them from unifying supporters’ clubs.
“We have not deviated from the MOU by the six recognized supporters’ clubs.
“Although we have seen some of our members showing withdrawal tendency but we have been able to apply our mechanism of internal conflict resolution to sort out our differences.
‘We will be not be distracted by naysayers who bent on causing confusion.
Gullong assured that the IMC will conduct a credible election to usher in the first executives of the United Supporters’ Club.
