NNL Relegation: Abakaliki United and Adamawa United Among Eight Teams Demoted

The Nigerian National League (NNL) has confirmed the relegation of eight teams from the 2024/2025 season.

Despite their impressive run in the President Federation Cup, Abakaliki United will join the list of relegated teams ¹.

The relegated Teams are

– Conference A:

– Ijele FC

– Igbajo United

– 1472 FC (withdrawn from the league earlier)

– Conference B:

– Abakaliki United (2025 President Federation Cup finalists)

– Madiba FC

– Gateway United

– Conference C:

– Zamfara United

– Conference D:

– Adamawa United

NNL Chairman George Aluo confirmed that the relegation was carried out according to the decisions made at the last NNL Congress held in Bauchi.

Aluo stated that it was unanimously agreed that eight teams would be relegated at the end of the season, with three from Conferences A and B, and one each from Conferences C and D

The league will welcome four new teams relegated from the NPFL: Lobi Stars, Heartland FC, Sunshine Stars, and Akwa United ¹.
