Ademola Lookman Nominated for Atalanta’s Goal of the Season
Nigerian international Ademola Lookman has been nominated for Atalanta’s Goal of the Season award for his outstanding performances against Real Madrid and Empoli.
Lookman fired a shot past Thibaut Courtois for Atalanta’s second goal in their 3-2 defeat.
He latched onto a sublime pass from Mateo Retegui, dribbled past the goalkeeper, and slotted the ball into an empty net in Atalanta’s 5-0 win.
The Goal of the Season contest will follow a knockout format, starting with a Round of 16 where each goal faces off against another. Winners progress to the quarterfinals, then semifinals, and eventually the final.
Lookman’s strike against Real Madrid will face off against Marten de Roon’s goal against Genoa, while his Empoli finish is up against Ederson’s winner versus AC Milan ¹.
The 27-year-old winger has been in excellent form, registering 22 goals and five assists in 46 appearances across all competitions last season.
He was named Man of the Match in both games and has won Atalanta’s Player of the Season award for the last two campaigns
