…..Team Cross River Charged to Make State Proud at National Sports Festival
Team Cross River has officially departed the ancient city of Calabar for the much-anticipated National Sports Festival, Ogun, from 16th -30th 2025 showcasing a blend of youth, talent, and determination as they prepare to make the state proud on the national stage.
The departure ceremony took place in Calabar, with a show of unity and excitement among the athletes, coaches, and officials. The team is led by Mr. Moses Agbor, the Director of Sports at the Cross River State Sports Commission, who expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and readiness for the multi-sport event.
Addressing the contingent before their departure, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports Development, Mr. Lawrence, charged the athletes to be shining examples and worthy ambassadors of Cross River State. He urged them to uphold discipline, sportsmanship, and excellence throughout the competition.
“You are not just going to represent yourselves, you are going to represent the pride of Cross River State. Make His Excellency, Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Otu, and the entire Cross Riverians proud,” Mr. Lawrence stated passionately.
The team, comprising athletes from various sporting disciplines, was in high spirits, exuding confidence and determination to bring home medals and elevate the state’s sporting profile. Many of the athletes expressed optimism and readiness to compete, citing months of intense training and support from the state government.
