NSC Announces Local Organising Committee Of African Athletics Junior Championship

The National Sports Commission, NSC, has announced the members of the local organising committee of the African junior Athletics U18/20 Championship slated for the 16-20 of July 2025 in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
The Commission revealed a list of fifteen experienced individuals with expertise in Sports administration and corporate sponsorship that will ensure a world class organisation of the championship.
The African Junior Athletics U18/20 Championship is a gathering of over 500 junior athletes from all over Africa with 53 countries expected to participate.
Ditector General of the National Sports Commission, NSC, Hon Bukola Olopade is the Chairman of the Committee while the Commissioner of Sports in Ogun State, Hon Wasiu Isiaka will serve as the Vice Chairman of the Committee.
According to the NSC DG, hosting the 3rd edition of the biennial Junior championship speaks exactly to the reforms Mr President is bringing into Nigerian Sports where Nigeria will be a destination for international Sports events.
” This speaks to the Sports economy, this speaks to hospitality, this speaks to wealth creation and this speaks to infrastructure development”.
One of the reasons why the Confederation of African athletics, CAA, gave Nigeria this hosting rights is because of the world class modern sporting facilities the Ogun state Government has put in place at the MKO sports complex in Abeokuta for the Gateways Games.
” The Sports facilities in Abeokuta are World class and hosting the CAA Junior Athletics Championship is one of the benefits of hosting the National Sports Festival and I must once again thank the Governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun, for his Sporting Vision”, he concluded.
