NWFL:Bayelsa Queens Edge Rivers Angels In Last Home Game Of The Season

Bayelsa Queens FC, defeated Rivers Angels 1-0 in a matchday 13 fixtures of the NWFL Premiership on Wednesday 23 April, 2025, at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, to maintain their 100% winning home record.
Both teams already qualified for the Super Six were playing for a top of Group B clash.
Alaba Olabiyi scored the only goal of the game in the 3rd minute of play from a corner-kick from Dooshima Tarnum.
Nine minutes into the match, the game was stopped due to heavy down pour that made the pitch unplayable, and after 23 minutes play resumed.
The Prosperity Girls lost a chance to make it two – nil from the penalty spot, as Alexander Florence fired her kick over the post in the 45th minute.
The win means Bayelsa Queens FC have won 10 matches and drew 3 in 13 games with 33 points.
“I’m happy that out of six points at stake against Rivers Angels, we got 4 points, it’s was a good result for Bayelsa Queens,” Bayelsa Queens Technical Adviser, Whyte Ogbonda said.
“My target and the target of the team is to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League and for us to do that we need to win the Super Six in Ikenne,” Coach Whyte Ogbonda added.
