The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Monday, April 21, held the official draw for the third edition of the African Schools Football Championship, set to kick off in Ghana from April 23 to 26.

The draw ceremony, staged in Accra, was attended by several African football legends, with the tournament making its debut in West Africa. In the girls’ category, Ghana have been placed in Group A with Morocco, Benin, and Malawi. This will mark the Black Damsels’ first-ever appearance in the competition. Morocco were runners-up in the previous edition.

Group B features defending champions South Africa, who face strong competition from Uganda, DR Congo, and Gambia.

Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan assisted in the boys’ draw. Ghana, in Group A, will face Uganda, South Africa, and Algeria. Defending champions Tanzania headline Group B alongside Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and DR Congo.

Gyan described the event as a crucial platform for grooming young African talent.

Held under the theme “Encourage, Educate, Engage,” the tournament will take place at the University of Ghana Stadium, with the final scheduled for Saturday, April 26.
