The ill-tempered North Central Derby at the Lafia township stadium between hosts Nasarawa United and visiting Plateau United might have been marred with lots of controversies and violent scenes, but a certain Kumater Shina shone brightly for the victorious Nasarawa United in a 5-goal thriller Derby day delight.
The 18-year-old utility player who comfortably plays in any saddled position saw a routine 90 minutes of action for the solid miners in their quest to beat the drop as they secured a nail biting 3-2 victory over regional rivals Plateau United known as the “Peace Boys” from the Home of Peace and Tourism.
Kumater Shina was directly involved in 2 goals as a brace from veteran striker Ugochukwu Leonard and a clinical finish from league’s topscorer Anas Yusuf handed the resurgent Solid Miners a Derby day bragging rights at the Lafia township stadium on matchday 33 of the ongoing NPFL season.
The youngster slightly behind Anas Yusuf as the most consistent player for the Lafia based outfit, having featured in 28 league games in the ongoing season looks so determined and focused to helping his side wade off the relegation battle.
He’s had 5 assists to his name this season and his recovery rate for the solid miners has been second to none. Little wonder coach Salisu Yusuf plays him at different positions on different occasions-a situation the left footed Kumater embraces with sheer ease.
Having been banished to the Pantami stadium in Gombe State to see off the rest of their home matches as punishment meted by the league body in the aftermath of a violent matchday 33 hostilities against regional neighbours Plateau United, the solid miners will be heavily reliant on the immense contributions of the ever reliable Kumater Shina for the retention of their NPFL status for next season.
The name Kumater Shina; a delight to behold.
