Yobe Desert Stars FC has bolstered its squad by signing ten new players ahead of the second half of the 2024-2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) season. Among these additions, two are promising indigenous talents: Sadam Abdullahi Hussaini, known as Sadam Messi, from Total Pillars and Potiskum Academy FCs of Potiskum LGA, and Muhammad Umar (Batonde) from Damaturu LGA, who has been promoted from the Yobe Desert Stars FC U15. Their impressive performances in the recent Northeast Zonal Sports Elimination at the August 27th Stadium in Damaturu led to their inclusion in the senior team.
Earlier in the season, Yobe Desert Stars made a significant statement by signing 17 new players, including experienced individuals like Oladosu from NAF fc and Amos Karami from NAF fc, Abuja. This strategic recruitment contributed to their triumph in the NFF President Pre-Season Tournament in Kaduna, showcasing the team’s enhanced capabilities, where YBDS fc lifted the trophy in front of host Kada fc, Gombe United, and many other well-known teams in the country.
The recent acquisition of these ten players, particularly the homegrown talents, is expected to further strengthen the squad. Their familiarity with the local football landscape and the infusion of youthful energy are anticipated to enhance team dynamics. With these reinforcements, Yobe Desert Stars fc is well-positioned to compete more comfortably and effectively in the upcoming matches of the NNL season, where Desert Stars fc is leading the ladder of their group.
