The Skipper of Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia, Augustine Njoku, has made a return to action, following the hamstring injury he sustained three weeks ago, during the Matchday 25 league game against reigning champions, Enugu Rangers in Umuahia.

Njoku was seen training separately from the Warriors squad, ostensibly working on his fitness and full recovery.

The Warriors captain while speaking with the club’s media expressed his delight and gratitude to God for the speedy recovery.

“I feel very good, you know being out of the team for some weeks now, coming back to training, I feel very, very good and I’m happy for that…I’m not feeling any pain in the hamstring anymore, so, it’s a good one, I really thank God for having recovered so quickly, I can say all glory to God Almighty”.

The former Nigeria Under-20 international also shared his thoughts on the upcoming league game between Abia Warriors and Bendel Insurance, expressing optimism in the Warriors’ ability to secure the maximum points even as he expects a fight from the Benin Arsenals.

“Bendel Insurance has improved lately and we got the maximum points at their home in Benin in the first round, and I know they must be coming with everything to see if they can equally get a point here in Umuahia, but as I usually say all the time, no game is alike…I believe we’re going to make a return to victory again using the Bendel Insurance game on Sunday as a key start to our return to victory I believe”.

Njoku’s optimism stems from the training regimen of the Coach Imama Amapakabo led technical crew since his return.

“…seeing the training since I came back, the coaches have been trying their best, trying to put us in shape and all that but I believe, come here on Sunday, God being on our side, we will get the maximum points”, Njoku stated.

He stated further, “.. I believe from the work I’ve seen our coaches put in this week, and equally the players, from the work I have seen, we as a team, Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia are putting this week, we are returning to winning ways, and that’s for sure”.

Njoku’s return is a welcome development for Umu Chineke, and a confidence booster for the team as they resume their quest for a top three finish, starting with the game against Bendel Insurance on Sunday.
