Heartland Queens’ technical adviser, Obi Ogbala has assured of a quick turnaround in the team’s fortune in the ongoing Nigerian topflight.
The Owerri landladies are still wandering in the wilderness looking for the right keys and instantaneous breakthrough in the four-week old premier league.
The Owerri side made headlines for the right reasons in the immediate past season and made maiden cameo appearance in the premium Super Six playoffs in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state but four games down the line in the current season are yet to secure an outright win in two away and home games respectively.
The irrepressible gaffer of the Owerri mainstreams, Ogbala insists that his side will soon strike the right chords and go ahead to take its rightful place in the comity of the elites.
“Well, the league is a marathon, it’s still morning and we are still going on with the fight for positive results and it will surely come, and I can confidently assure you that the wins will come very shortly.
“I believe strongly that the expected wins will come in no distant time, I cannot tell you outrightly that it will be today or tomorrow but what I know for sure is that the wins will surely come.
“Yes, we are facing Dannaz Ladies in the next home match, that’s a good matchup, they are good side, too but like I said earlier, we are moving on with the fight for our rightful place in the league.
“What I know for sure is that we are going to smile when the winnings start to come and that will be the magic wand and turnaround. And we will surely take our rightful place on the group’s log,” said the soft-spoken gaffer.
On his side massive collapse at the two-season campaigners, Remo Stars Ladies, Ogbala said there were errors here and there but added that corrections have been made to avert re-occurrence.
“Actually, we were not in control of the ball, we gave away lots of balls and that made us to be under pressure and as a result of that the team collapsed. And when the goals started to come, we could not stop it and it appeared like the team did not play.
“The girls fought well with the quick comeback after Remo Stars Ladies took the lead and upon return from the break, there were lots of errors that the opponents capitalised on. Well, that’s football and that game is in the past right now,” Ogbala summed up.
The Owerri side are seventh on the eight-team Group A log on poorly one point nine adrift the leaders, Remo Stars Ladies.
