……..Super Eagles Star Set for Atalanta Comeback

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has returned to light training with Atalanta after recovering from a knee injury that saw him miss out last week, reports Atalanta BC News.

The setback for Lookman arrived just hours before Atalanta’s crucial UEFA Champions League tie with Barcelona, and fears had been raised over a potentially long-term absence. Knee injuries are always delicate, and given how important Lookman has become for Atalanta, there was a fear his recovery could take longer than expected. Recent updates, however, indicate the Nigerian international is making steady progress and might return to full action in the next two weeks.

The Return of Importance for Atalanta’s European and Domestic Ambitions

It is a very important return of events for Lookman with Atalanta, since they have a very important double against Club Brugge up ahead in the UEFA Champions League. La Dea are sitting in third place in Serie A, but must also find consistency in the league to sit six points from Napoli for a top-four finish.

The Nigerian forward has been a key player for Atalanta this season, scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists in 26 appearances across all competitions. He is the club’s second-highest goal contributor, only behind Mateo Retegui, who has 22 goal contributions.

The partnership of Lookman with Belgian playmaker Charles De Ketelaere has gone down as a bright spot in Atalanta, and his return will hand manager Gian Piero Gasperini more attacking options as they gun for silverware.

Boost for Nigeria Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

Beyond Atalanta, Lookman’s return is great news for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, who are heading into 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe next month. The 27-year-old has been in fine form for the national team, and his availability will be a significant boost for the Nigerian attack.

Lookman should be in full fitness for club and country in the next important fixtures barring any setbacks.
