Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers was on target as Manchester United defeated Rangers 2-1 in Thursday’s Europa League game at Old Trafford.
Dessers, who came on as a second-half substitution, leveled parity for the visitors in the 88th minute after Rangers goalkeeper Butland had conceded an own goal.
His Nigerian teammate, Leon Balogun, was replaced in the second half after he copped an injury.
But Bruno Fernandes popped up with an even later ‘captain’s goal’ in the 92nd minute to win it.
It was a much-needed tonic for Ruben Amorim and his team off the back of Sunday’s painful Premier League defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, but actually a fourth straight win in Europe.
