The Akwa Ibom State Football Association has extended its best wishes to Ibom Angels as they kick off their 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership campaign against Rivers Angels in Port Harcourt today.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, Mr Samuel Umoh, the FA commended the resilience of the Ibom Angels team, highlighting their determination and hard work during the pre-season.

Mr Umoh urged the team to carry their “Never Say Never” spirit into the league, starting with their clash against the formidable Rivers Angels, who finished as runners-up in last season’s Super Six.

“This season marks a fresh chapter for Ibom Angels as they return to the NWFL Premiership. The team has risen above adversity during the pre-season and is ready to compete with the best in the league. As you take on Rivers Angels in today’s South-South derby, I urge you to maintain your resilience, determination, and discipline,” Mr Umoh stated.

He further added that the Akwa Ibom State Football Association and fans across the state are fully behind the team.

“You are not just representing Ibom Angels; you are flying the flag of Akwa Ibom State. With our support and your unwavering spirit, we believe you can achieve wonders this season,” he said.
