Mighty Jets Int’l FC of Jos secured their first win of the season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Jigawa Golden Stars in their match day 3 fixture in Katsina.

The only goal of the game was scored by Safiyanu Abubakar, who replaced the injured Odafe Emmanuel in the starting lineup.

Emmanuel had picked up an injury during the pre-game warm-up, forcing the coaching staff to make an early adjustment.

Despite the challenges posed by the home team’s supporters, Mighty Jets showed resilience and determination to claim all three points.

The home side Jigawa Golden Stars were awarded a penalty in the second half of the game but missed as the ball went wide off target to hand Mighty Jets Int’l FC a huge confidence to defend their first half goal and eventually claim a victory.

However, the victory was marred by an unfortunate incident involving the team’s cameraman, Attahiru Babayo, who was attacked by Jigawa Golden Stars supporters and the team’s camera damaged as a result.

The win marks a significant milestone for Mighty Jets, who had previously drawn their first two games of the season. They had played out a 1-1 draw against Barau FC in Kano and a 0-0 draw against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi in Jos.

The team will look to build on this momentum as they continue their campaign in the league. Meanwhile, the incident involving Attahiru Babayo has raised concerns about the safety and security of players, officials, and support staff during matches in the country again.
