NPFL:Lobi Stars Seek First Win As Rivers United Storm Lafia

Lobi Stars return to the Lafia City Stadium this Saturday, 21st September, 2024 for a thrilling Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 3 clash, aiming to secure their first victory of the 2024/2025 season against a strong Rivers United.

 

Following a goalless draw in their season opener against Akwa United, the ‘Alia Boys’ are eager to return to winning ways. Rivers United, coming off a strong start with a draw against Bendel Insurance and a commanding 3-1 win over Heartland FC, will bring their full force to face the Pride of Benue.

 

With their second match against Enyimba shifted to next Wednesday, the ‘Shoe Get Size’ boys are poised to make the most of this crucial encounter.

Both sides have a history of competitive encounters. In the last four meetings, Rivers United edged out Lobi Stars 2-1 in Port Harcourt during the 2023 Abridged League, but Lobi Stars responded with a 3-2 victory in the return leg at Jos Township Stadium. The 2023/2024 NPFL season saw a similar exchange, with Rivers United winning 1-0 in Port Harcourt and Lobi Stars claiming a 3-2 win in Lafia.

Lobi Stars will rely on the experience and defensive solidity of Orji Kalu and Moses Tsehuan, while the offensive threats of Stanley Oganbor and Alao Dabani promise to test Rivers United’s defense. Christian Madu and Ahmadu Liman will also be crucial in maintaining midfield control and supporting the attack.
