We want to Promote Sambo Sport to the Highest Level in Nigeria- Rotimi Okeniyi

The Chairman Board of Trustees of King Timmy Judo and Sambo Sports Foundation, Mr Rotimi Okeniyi has reiterated his desire for Sambo Sport to reach greater heights in Nigeria.

He made this known today at Sambo Clinic organised by King Timmy Judo and Sambo Sports Foundation in conjunction with Osun State Sports Council which took place at Oyan Town Hall, Oyan, Osun State.

The UK based Sambo Coach and philanthropist, Mr Rotimi Okeniyi said that his desire for the sport and talent discovery is the main reason behind organising the Sambo Clinic.

” Sambo is a beautiful sport and money spinning in some parts of the world. We thought of it that we need to bring it and promote it in Nigeria. Hence, we brought it to my state, Osun.”

” I want to say it categorically that Osun State is blessed will talents in abundance and we need to nurture them to stardom in Sambo Sport.”

” I want to thank the State Government for giving us this opportunity. It is imperative for me to say thank you to Osun State Sports Council under the leadership of the General Manager, Mr Rotimi Dunmoye for the unending support. My appreciation would not be full without specially thanking the Director of Sports, Coaching and Training, Osun State Sports Council, Mr Ademola Daini for making this program a reality.” Concluded Mr Okeniyi.

Earlier in his remarks, The General Manager of Osun State Sports Council, Mr Rotimi Dunmoye who represented the Commissioner for Sports said that the people of Osun State are happy with Mr Okeniyi for bringing the initiative of Sambo Sport to Osun State while urging him to continue the good work.

In his own remark, The Director of Sports Coaching and Training, Mr Ademola Daini said that what Mr Okeniyi has done is worthy of emulation. He urged other well meaning indigenes of the state to follow suite so as to reduce crime rate in the society.

Highlight of the event was the demonstration from athletes of Judo, Taekwondo and Kick boxing and Sambo Clinic.

Athletes were presented with certificates of participation, Books and Sambo gi.
