Selected football Academies invited for the one in town Scouting program put together by the Plateau State Football Association and Cornerflag Connection Ltd only came to showcase their skills and hoped to be selected for better deals abroad, before the very heavy one hit them right there when Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa shocked them financially by gifting each of the ten(1) teams that participated three hundred thousand naira, amounting to three(3) million naira.
Ahmed Musa, who said he’s very happy with the latest development as it concerns football on the Plateau, said: “I should be the happiest person today with what the Plateau State Football Association is doing. It pains some of us how football is nosediving on the Plateau despite the abundance of talents. I think the present step taken by the football house, always organizing grassroots competition like this will give the talented players opportunities to showcase their talents to the world.”
Addressing the whole Under-15 teams and players that came for the scouting tournament, Ahmed Musa emphasized on discipline, commitment and hard work from the players if they dream of becoming great players and from there change the fortune of themselves and that of their family and the community at large: “I started like you, but you are even luckier, because during our own time, there was no such thing of this nature. If you want to be the next John Obi Mikel, Ahmed Musa, Sunday Mba and many other players to have made the State and Nigeria proud, then you need to be very discipline, you need to be committed to this game you are chosing as a career and work hard. Don’t be rude to your Coach, be obedient to your parents at home and don’t toy with your education as well.”
The Sivasspor of Turkey player concluded: “One of the major problem faced by grassroots clubsides are facilities. I’m giving out three hundred thousand naira(#300,000) to each of the ten teams on ground here to help them buy balls, cones and other few equipments that will help improve their performance on the field of play and I will always in my little way support the further growth of football when called upon.”
Responding, the Chairman of Plateau State Football Association, Hon. Dr. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande said: “I’m so happy with this your kind gesture still showing how generous you can be and how much you love the development of the youths and the growth of the game. I invited Ahmed Musa, Austin Amutu who now plays in Saudi Arabia, Stephen Michael Gopey who plays in Ukraine among many other foreign based players currently holidaying in Jos, just to come and encourage and inspire these kids. Because I believe seeing them will be a big practical motivational factor for these kids going forward. But Ahmed Musa went further by giving out #3million to the ten teams on ground.”
Some other great personalities on ground to witness the maiden scouting tournament include, former PFA Normalization Chairman, Hon. Audu Yakal, former Chairman of the defunct JUTH fc who also served on the board of the PFA Normalization committee that conducted a free and fair elections that brought in this present administration, Prof. Ishaya Pam, FIFA Licensed Agent, Enock Mutfwang, Hon. Waziri Yahaya Kwande,Commissioner Operations PLASIEC, and the main brains behind this revival of football on the Plateau, Yusuf Yahaya-kwande,Director Cornerflag Connection Ltd and Jemilu Yahaya-kwande, Director/ CEO Cornerflag Connection Ltd, among others too numerous to mention.
