Niger Tornadoes took a significant step towards securing their top-flight status with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Lobi Stars at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna. The Ikon Allah Boys dominated the contest, with Clinton Jephta opening the scoring in the 9th minute, expertly finishing a through ball from Idris Saidu.
Bashir Usman doubled the lead with his 11th goal of the season, slotting home a pass from Jephta. Lobi Stars pulled one back through John Lazarus just before halftime, but Tornadoes restored their two-goal advantage in the second half. Chidiebere Ernest, a second-half substitute, scored off a goalmouth scramble to seal the win for the hosts despite Silvester Bell’s own goal late on.
The victory moves Tornadoes closer to safety as they aim to secure their spot in the top flight for next season.
