Head Coach of Lobi Stars, Eugene Agagbe, has lauded his boys’ fighting spirit and attributed the 1-1 at Abia Warriors on Sunday March 10, to their never-say-die spirit in the pulsating encounter.

The gaffer who spoke to sports journalists immediately after the grueling encounter at the Umuahia Township Stadium thanked his boys and promised not to relent or get carried away with the result.

He promised that he will continue to work hard to improve on the grey areas he had identified to build a more formidable squad for future challenges.

“I thank my boys for the hard work. They went into the contest with a never-say-die fighting spirit.

“The odds were heavily against us but they continued fighting till the last minutes and in football, you don’t give up until the final whistle is blown that is why we have taken this draw today,” said the former BCC Lions star.

The outspoken tactician also said after watching his opponents in the first half, he made a tactical switch by introducing three aggressive strikers to terrorise the defence line of Abia Warriors and that paid off handsomely in the end.

After a barren first half, substitute Fabian Omaka put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot but Lobi Stars bullish defender, John Victor’s thunderous free- kick deep into stoppage time restored parity for the match to end in a 1-1 draw.

With the well-deserved result, the ‘Yes Father Boys’ have maintained top of the league table with 43 points and will welcome CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finalists, Rivers United in Week 25 at Lafia City Stadium.
