Sunday’s clash between FC ONE Rocket and Ijebu United at the Eket Stadium was illuminated by spectacular strikes as the Indomitables clinched a 2-0 win.

Youngster, Paul Aver, who got the trust of head coach, Ndubisi Ndah to start, sparked wild jubilation when he rifled into the top corner from outside the box in the 39th minute to put the hosts 1-0 up.

Aver skipped past his marker, dressed the ball to perfection before scoring with great composure as the game went into the break with the Indomitables in front.

The second half equally witnessed a great goal when substitute Collins Linus received the ball down the right, breezed forward, cut into his dangerous left foot and unleashed a ferocious curling strike into the net to double the lead.

Linus left Ijebu United goalkeeper, Ganiu Odumade with no chance as the home fans roared again in celebration.

All efforts by the visitors to get a goal met the resistance of FC ONE Rocket captain and goalkeeper, Lordful Philip and the backline marshalled by Solomon Boyo, Goforth Amedu, Bidemi Obodu and Regan Igwebuike, who made two vital interventions.

Ijebu United’s Talabi Olumakinde looked the most threatening player for his team, but he could not make any of his efforts count as the Indomitables grabbed the vital win.

FC ONE Rocket now move up to fifth on the Conference B standings with 15 points from 10 games, three shy of leaders Ikorodu City.

Up next for Ndubisi Ndah’s men is a return fixture against Ijebu United on the 17th of February in the first game of the second stanza in Ijebu Ode.
